Sustainability is at the core of everything we do...
Conferences and exhibitions are traditionally wasteful and polluting. As an events company focused on sustainable technologies, Future-Proof Group Media (FPG Media) is committed to integrating sustainable business practices throughout our organisation. By sharing content digitally, we can generate less than 1% of the carbon emissions compared to live events. A typical three-day conference with 800 attendees has a carbon footprint of 455 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2-eq), averaging 0.57 tonnes of CO2-eq per participant, almost equal to a round-trip flight from London to Helsinki (0.55 tonnes CO2-eq). The primary contributors to this large carbon footprint are travel activities, which account for 378 tonnes CO2-eq (0.47 tonnes CO2-eq per attendee). Additional emissions come from hotel stays, catering, and waste generated by promotional materials such as display stands and giveaways.
Minimizing Our Environmental Impact
From planning to execution, we strive to minimize the environmental impact of our virtual and live events. We offset emissions from events like The Future of Protein Production Summits through partner schemes.

We’ve joined 1% For The Planet and contribute an additional 1% of every ticket sold to Stripe's CO2 Removal Technology Project. We are also members of Ecologi, a leading emissions measurement platform, which helps us track, manage, and report our carbon emissions, with the goal of decarbonising our events through certified offsetting projects.
Reducing Waste and Maximising Efficiency
We recognise that waste is inevitable, but we are committed to reducing both physical and carbon waste. We continually assess our operations to ensure efficiency. Our strategies include prioritising refurbished devices and recycled materials for office supplies and exhibition setups. Recycling packaging waste responsibly. Using sustainable travel options, such as public transportation, and avoiding air travel when possible. Operating a paperless office and using 100% recycled paper when necessary. Tracking energy usage in our offices and exhibitions through Ecologi, employing low-energy-rated equipment, and encouraging staff to power down devices after hours. With the help of the Ecologi Waste Calculator, we monitor our waste production and choose to either decarbonise or offset our carbon output through Ecologi’s certified offsetting projects. Our first annual sustainability report was first published in 2025.



Inspiring Change Among Clients and Suppliers
We aim to inspire our clients and suppliers to reduce their carbon and physical waste, especially during our events. FPG Media shares waste-reduction tips, exhibition advice, and annual reports via our website to promote sustainable practices. Our Ecologi-led action plans focus on reducing our carbon footprint by continuously measuring our business activities.
Reducing Exhibition Waste
To minimise waste at exhibitions, we encourage the use of digital branded backgrounds. We provide exhibitors with guidance on eco-friendly displays made from recycled materials and suggest avoiding dates or event titles on signage to enable reuse. We discourage single-use, disposable freebies and promote practical, sustainable giveaways. We suggest compostable or biodegradable materials for testers and product samples. We also encourage attendees to bring their own bags, reducing the need for single-use carrier bags.
Ethical Investment
We invest our company’s finances ethically, choosing providers who share our values and are transparent. We do not work with financial institutions that support industries detrimental to societal well-being, such as arms manufacturers and tobacco companies. Our chosen provider is committed to ecological sustainability and climate action. While we currently offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our activities, our goal is to reach a point where nothing remains to offset.
Commitment to Sustainability and Future Goals
FPG Media is dedicated to reducing carbon emissions both locally and globally. We are in the process of applying for B Corp certification to further validate our commitment to sustainability.
